UNIVERSAL OFFICE PRODUCTS Light-Duty 38161 Strip-Cut Shredder, Black

This shredder was horrible. Get a real shredder people. Just about everytime you put a piece of paper in there to be shredded it gets stuck and makes a mess everywhere.

Shredder doesn’t fit waste can and doesn’t work. I am returning, and, I am expected to pay the return postage. Very unsatisfied!

I bought this shredder because it was the same no-basket portable format I had used for years in the past. I have pretty minimal shredding needs: bills, occasional junk mail with personal info, that’s about it. You get what you pay for of course so I won’t say I expected too much on this one!
As another reviewer mentioned, you have to be very careful about how you position the paper before it sucks it in, since it has a tendency to pull the paper through at an angle—oftentimes jamming in the corner as a result. Additionally, I found that it would not pull the bills through unless I ‘unfolded’ them first. My old cheap shredder had no problem pulling through a folded 2-page bill or a thin envelope. I was able to get 1- or 2-pages through at a time when positioned exactly in the center and unfolded. More than that and it jammed so I had to reverse to extract.
Another annoying feature is the fact that it does not pull the paper completely through when shredding on the automatic-feed option. It thus always has ‘shreds’ still hanging and stuck when you are finished your shredding chores, so you must pick all those out by hand. With the “on” option this does not happen but then you have the overheating problem.
It’s cheap and works at a very minimal level. I would not purchase again even at this price though.

Similar to the last one I had that jammed and stopped working (I had my old one for 4+ yrs).
Figure I would stick to the same format, big mistake. This one is not that great. Jams constantly on the right side. Have to alsways be very care how I place “1″ piece of paper. Will stick with it till it conks out – don’t recommend.

You definitely get what you pay for!!!
Shreds one or two sheets fine, if you line them up perfectly.
Has no power to pull sheets through. We called for a RA# to return product, but was told
it would cost more than it was worth, and to keep it. We were refunded our money, that is the
the only plus with this transaction. (No shipping costs were charged in the beginning)
